Frequent Asked Questions (FAQ)

These are common questions many people ask about the treatments. I try to answer them carefully.

Q. Any advice for before and after the treatmentsents.

A.
Ideally, you should not be too hungry or overeaten. Have a light meal if you have to eat beforehand. Sometimes, sensitive clients may feel a little tired or dizzy after treatments. This is the natural response of the body from detoxing, repairing and autonomic nervous system balancing. After a few sessions, the body will get to used to it usually. Also on the same day, please avoid the hot shower on the same day, take it next morning.
Q. Does acupuncture hurt?

A.
At least in my clinic, most clients don't feel any pain during the treatments. There are many styles of acupuncture and also all different sizes of needles. Usually Japanese style acupuncture use much thinner needles with less stimulating techniques. The most needles I use are only 0.14mm width which is as thin as hair. So you hardly feel them. Also there are other techniques like, shoni shin, which needle never penetrate skin. This actually just touch the surface of the skin, and is used to treat even babies in some parts of Japan. Besides, myself doesn't like the painful style of acupuncture. My treatment policy is to achieve maximum results with minimum stimulation.
Q . No, I never want to have needles. But still want to get better. What can you do?

A.
O.K. I can still use massage, suction cupping and moxibustion without needles
. These are also very effective ways to treat. But I still recommend the treatments with needles because result can be much better from my personal experience. If manual therapy alone like massage or manipulation without needles could do the same thing, why they had to keep and develop the needles for treatments. I think that History speak. It is for me a bit like you don't want to travel to Europe by ship anymore when there is plane.
Q. How many treatments do I need?

A.
Maybe you get benefits with the first treatment. But usually 5 treatments or more should be recommended for chronic problems. Normally treatments are often started with once or twice a week, then take a longer gap as the treatments goes.
Q. Any chances of infections of HIV or Hepatitis?

A.
All needles in my clinic are DISPOSABLE needles. Don't worry.
Q. How does acupuncture work?

A.
Ancient people believed that the body is an energetic organism where the energy(Qi) is running though meridians all over the body. By stimulating these reflex points(TSUBO) on meridians corresponding internal organs, the functions of the organ and related parts of body can be regulated and corrected.

Q. No, I want to know how acupuncture works with scientific explanation.

A.
Scientific studies shown that acupuncture stimulates the release of chemicals in the central nervous system (brain, spinal cord and) and muscles. These chemical change the perception of pain and trigger chemicals&hormone release which balances the body's own internal regulatory mechanism.
Q. What kinds of problems can you treat?

A.
